Produce more with less resources, waste, and energy to reduce trade-offs at the source''.
The circular economy is a new economic model with a systemic vision. It consists of producing sustainable goods and services by reducing the consumption and waste of resources and the production of waste.
It is therefore a question of moving from a "disposable" society to a circular economic model. It brings together the notions of green economy, economy of use, economy of performance, etc. Its operation aims to go beyond the linear economic model consisting of extracting, manufacturing, consuming and throwing away.
Two transition strategies can be useful to create a circular economy: substitution and dematerialization.
Substitution consists in using different resources to achieve the same goal. Dematerialization consists of using a smaller quantity of a resource while providing the same economic function to society.
